FAQ's

Q: How are these products made?

A: Additive manufacturing.

Q: How are these products designed?

A: Through rigorous iterative digital modelling, and physical prototyping cycles. It's normal to have hundreds of prototypes before a product is listed for sale.

Q: What are these products made of?

A: Sustainably sourced bioplastic (PLA), specifically designed for increased compostability and ductility (strong but flexible).

Q: Can I throw my edges in the backyard compost?

A: Short answer is no. When the aluminum washers are separated from the bioplastic, the bioplastic can be commercially composted (AS4736) but is not recommended for a typical home composter (AS5810).

Q: Are 3D printed products strong enough?

A: Yes. Prototypes have been tested in several climbing gyms for years with regular use from the public and high performance teams. The edges have minimal to no wear. Since that testing period began, the designs have only been further refined and improved.

Q: Can these products be used outdoors?

A: It is not recommended to install the training edges outdoors. All product testing has been done in indoor environments.

Q: Can Metric Climbing Hangboard Edges be used like any other climbing hold?

A: It is not recommended to use training edges as regular climbing holds. All testing for training edges have been done in fixed training areas in which the edges have seen minimal relocation (screwing in and out). Any use outside of the recommended configurations is at your own risk and discretion. Metric Climbing Inc. is in no way responsible for any incidental or consequential damages arising from proper or improper use of Metric Climbing Inc. products.

Q: How to clean?

A: Like regular edges on a hangboard, brushing regularly will help clean off grease and chalk accumulated from regular use. Avoid exposing them to high heat (not dishwasher safe).
